The Professional Community Interpreter Certificate Program
Our PCI course covers the full spectrum of social services where interpreting work meets the needs of the community.
The Professional Community Interpreter is one of the few programs accepted abroad to meet international standards for interpreting.
The perfect launch pad for interpreting in your community
The Professional Community Interpreter course prepares individuals for providing interpreting services in their community. Our PCI course equips you with the key techniques you'll need to interpret in social services, government, education, and faith-based settings.
Learn various strategies, skills, and tools to provide the best level of service, and participate in immersive classes that will prepare you for interpreting encounters in the field.
Here are some the qualities that make our program distinct.
International
The PCI program teaches the code of ethics and professional conduct observed by the international community of professional interpreters.
The standards presented in this program align to ethical requirements set by the European Union of Legal Interpreters and Translators (EULITA), the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT), and the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) codes.
Robust
Our PCI program is designed to instruct students in interpreting standards, theory, and practical skills for use in social and civic environments.
We cover legal interpreting, remote interpreting, strategic mediation, and advocacy.
Immersive
Students will receive immersive instruction on how to interpret, as well as participate in active, guided roleplaying sessions.
You will demonstrate competence in your interpreting skillsets through practical application and reflective practice.
